Philosophy

"Values taken for granted or left unarticulated can become inoperative."
--excerpt from Goals and Criteria Preamble, 1975

The schools of the Sacred Heart, members of a world-wide network, offer an education that is marked by a distinctive spirit. It is the essence of a Sacred Heart school that it be deeply concerned for each student’s total development: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical.

The Forest Ridge community is deliberate about articulating, living out and holding true to its mission statement, which includes the Goals and Criteria common to all of the U.S. Sacred Heart Schools. Established in 1975 (and revised in 1990), the Goals and Criteria articulate the essence of a Sacred Heart School. For the past 30 years, the commitment to educate to these five goals has defined a Sacred Heart School and has united Forest Ridge with other schools in the Network in a common educational mission.

Foundational Principles

  1. In the Goals and Criteria, the Society of the Sacred Heart defines the mission of the school as part of the Society's educational mission in the Catholic Church.
  2. Each school is accountable to the Society through the Sacred Heart Commission on Goals for adherence to the Goals and Criteria.
  3. Each school's Board of Trustees and Administration establish and uphold policies that are consistent with the Goals and Criteria.
  4. The school allocates its resources to support each Goal and its Criteria.
  5. The school is in compliance with professional standards as stated by accrediting agencies.
