Campus Ministry

The goal of the Campus Ministry program at Forest Ridge is to help each girl develop a personal and active faith in God in a developmentally appropriate way through experiential learning in the area of spiritual development. Campus Ministry is headed by the school-wide campus minister, who works with Middle School and High School religion teachers to coordinate liturgies, prayer services, grade-level retreats and other faith-related opportunities.

Campus Ministry places a great importance on accepting the faith of each child where ever she is on her faith journey. The school believes that every student has something to contribute to the faith life of the community and that each child has the capacity to commune with her God. The school honors all religious traditions.

Students learn by doing, so the program provides a number of opportunities for active participation and leadership, such as student-led prayer services. Prayer services are diverse in style (song, prayer, intentions, silence, reflection) and in content. The services are organized by theme, focus, or concept, such as light, human dignity, non-violence, and/or Sacred Heart traditions.

Learning can happen in small and large groups, in and out of the classroom. Having a well-established religion curriculum in both the high school and middle school ensures that students have the opportunity to participate in activities and be touched by campus ministry. The school's chapel has become a safe place on campus for all and a "go-to" place in times of community and global trauma.
