5th Grade Camp

On March 4th, our 5th graders headed out for one of the most anticipated adventures of their 5th grade year: an overnight trip to Islandwood on Bainbridge Island!

5th grade camp

The journey began with a ferry ride across Puget Sound, and from there the days were packed with hands-on experiences that stretched well beyond the classroom. Students worked with a naturalist, went crabbing, and got up close with the ecosystems around them. At night, bonfires set the scene for skits and plenty of laughs, and drumming circles gave the group a chance to slow down, listen, and connect in a different way. Constellation art rounded out the mix, blending creativity with a little wonder at the night sky.

The trip also had a quieter, more grounded side. Students helped set the tables in the dining hall, pitched in with food prep in the kitchen, and settled in for read-alouds with Ms. Levin and Ms. Tomich. They also had quiet reading time and journal reflection outside. The small moments were just as memorable as the big ones.

The 5th grade came back a tighter group, with a stronger sense of themselves and each other. We're so proud of them and grateful to Islandwood for offering such a meaningful program year after year.
