Faith & Justice Update

December was a season of deep prayer, celebration, and joy in our community. We began the month by honoring the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe through a shared Mass that centered student voices, with student speakers reflecting on faith, courage, and belonging. Our celebration was enriched by the presence of a mariachi band, whose music honored the cultural and spiritual significance of Our Lady of Guadalupe and invited the community into joyful praise.

Later in the month, we gathered for our Feast of Wishes Mass during the Third Week of Advent, known as Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means “rejoice,” and this week marks a turning point in Advent. While Advent is a season of waiting and preparation, Gaudete reminds us that joy is already near. It invites us to pause, lift our hearts, and rejoice in hope as we await the coming of Christ.

As we continue through this sacred season, we also recognize that we are now in the time of Hanukkah. We honor and celebrate with our Jewish sisters and brothers as they mark this festival of light, remembrance, and resilience. Together, these moments reflect December as a time of light, joy, and shared faith across

traditions.
