Upper School Service Day: Goal 3 in Action
- Signature Programs
- Upper School

On Tuesday, April 16, the entire Upper School participated in a Day of Service rooted in Goal 3: “A social awareness that impels to action” (Goals & Criteria). Students served at one of eight organizations whose missions include empowering young artists, connecting young mothers with resources and communities of support, accompanying those who are recovering from addiction and trauma, aiding the food insecure and the unhoused, caring for creation at a local animal sanctuary, and working with our own Forest Ridge Environmental Club.
We started the day by listening to guest speaker Anna Robertson who spoke on the Universal Call to Service by drawing on her experiences as a prison chaplain and hospital minister, as well as her work with Discerning Deacons.

From there, students headed out across King County on their service projects.
How can you help continue this mission of service at home? You can talk with your student about the value of service in your own family traditions and life journey and encourage them to engage in forms of service that will help them to broaden their perspectives, reminding them of the incredible lessons those at the margins have to teach us.
