Exploring Lake Crescent: 7th Graders' Journey of Discovery at NatureBridge
The 7th grade recently returned from an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Olympic National Park, where they immersed themselves in nature, learning, and grade-level bonding. Every year, each grade embarks on a class trip and this year, the 7th grade visited NatureBridge on the shores of Lake Crescent, an immersive program where students applied hands-on science and learning about the natural world, igniting self-discovery and inspiring stewardship of our planet.
The trip began with a lively bus ride to the cabins, singing songs from last year’s holiday concert and a spirited rendition of Coeur de Jesus. Despite the long drive, students arrived full of energy and excitement, ready to dive into the experiences awaiting them.
Students settled into their cabins before spending the afternoon exploring the natural wonders of Lake Crescent. Guided by camp educators, they learned about the geology of the lake, participated in team-building games, and explored the microscope lab. Dinner at the historic Rosemary Inn was the end to a day full of discovery.
The next day, students heard from John Cornish, a local geologist and master mineral collector. John shared his extensive knowledge about geology and travel and students had the opportunity to learn more about minerals and rocks in the area. They also hiked up Mt. Storm King and took in the views of the surrounding area.
The adventure to Lake Crescent was one filled with learning, teamwork, and memories that the 7th graders will carry with them for years to come. Check out more photos from NatureBridge in the photo albums portion of Raven Review!
