Middle School Production of Cinderella
Congratulations to the middle school cast and crew of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella - Youth Edition.
Two casts of 37 actors and eight members of the Tech Crew comprised the amazingly talented group who participated in the Middle School spring musical, Cinderella, the weekend of May 17 and 18 in the Lee Theatre. The students did an incredible job presenting this timeless, magical fairytale - written by the creative team Richard Rodgers (music) & Oscar Hammerstein (books and lyrics), and it was well-received by audiences! Thank you to everyone who came and supported the cast and crew and a special shout out to all the parent volunteers who worked behind the scenes. This was an extra special performance, as it was also Mrs. Schreiber’s 15th musical and 30th production at Forest Ridge, since arriving in 2008.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella focuses on a young woman named, Cinderella, who is forced into a life of servitude by her wickedly cruel stepmother and stepsisters. When the palace in her kingdom announces a royal ball, Cinderella wishes that she could attend, but is forced to stay home and do her chores by her stepmother. After she watches her stepsisters and stepmother go off to the ball, a Fairy Godmother appears and magically grants Cinderella’s wish by turning a pumpkin into a carriage, four white mice into horses, and her rags into a gorgeous dress. At the ball, Cinderella and the Prince meet and instantly fall in love, but she abruptly excuses herself at midnight – when Fairy Godmother’s magic will break - leaving only a glass slipper on the palace steps. After an extensive search throughout the kingdom, the Prince and Cinderella are magically reunited and blissfully married.
