Middle School Student, Maya M. '29, Earns Girl Scouts Silver Award

Congratulations to Maya M. on earning the Girl Scouts Silver Award! This is the highest honor for a Girl Scout Cadette, and recognizes leadership, personal growth, and a commitment to making a difference in the wider community.

For her project, Maya combined her passion for swimming with a dedication to promoting water safety for kids. As a competitive swimmer, Maya understands the importance of learning to swim, both for fun and safety. To help break down barriers when it comes to learning to swim, Maya worked with a local nonprofit to identify challenges families face in accessing swim lessons. She then created a directory of swim lesson providers, wrote a children’s storybook about learning to swim, and shared her project with kids, reading her book to first graders at a local elementary school.

Maya dedicated over a year to this project. Congratulations, Maya!
