Endowed Scholarships and Funds

The Alycia Long Allen fund was created in 2007 to honor her memory as an alumna, the Director of the High School 2002-2007 and an extraordinary woman who was dedicated to assure that diversity became part of the fabric of her alma mater. Donors to this fund will make possible multiple opportunities for young women to attend Forest Ridge School on a scholarship, to provide for professional opportunities and to underwrite regular school necessities to those who demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to the daughter, granddaughter, or niece of an alumna of Forest Ridge. The student exemplifies Sacred Heart spirit and contributes to the Forest Ridge community.

Awarded to a high school student who is interested in science and exhibits Sacred Heart values. The recipient may demonstrate financial need.

The Charlotte E. Bonica Scholarship, donated by her family in memory of Charlotte after her untimely death in 2006, is awarded to the high school student at Forest Ridge who personifies the spirit of a Sacred Heart education and whose interest lies in the areas of literature and the arts.

Given to honor 100 years of education at Forest Ridge and the memory of Virginia Satterberg Helsell, this scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates scholastic achievement, leadership, academic, and athletic abilities, and financial need.

This scholarship is awarded to a Catholic student who maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA while involved in extracurricular activities and demonstrates financial need.

In 2010, the Forest Ridge Board of Trustees established the Sr. Mary B. Flaherty ’49 Scholarship to honor her 60 years as a Sacred Heart educator. Sr. Flaherty requested that this scholarship be offered to a qualified graduating student from St. Madeleine Sophie Parish school who demonstrates financial need and who is entering the ninth grade at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. If no student qualifies, this scholarship may be awarded to an incoming High School freshman who otherwise would be unable to attend Forest Ridge.

Gifts made to this fund benefit the general scholarship and financial assistance program at Forest Ridge.

This scholarship is awarded to a Middle School student who exemplifies Sacred Heart spirit and demonstrates financial need.

The Dorothea McCaffray Hiltenbrand '37 Scholarship was established in 2019 through the generosity of the John Robert Hiltenbrand Estate. This scholarship honors John's wife Dorothea's gratitude for a Sacred Heart education at Forest Ridge School.

Given in loving memory of Aurelia Danz James, class of 1937, this scholarship is given to a student who demonstrates financial need.

This fund was created in 2010 by Mary Kenny's friends at Stanford University and the Morris S. Smith Foundation to celebrate her dedication of 40 years in education. This fund will make possible multiple additional opportunities for young women in the Middle School who demonstrate financial need, by offering them funds to underwrite regular school necessities. Mary Kenny was the Director of Development at Forest Ridge from 2000-2010.

Awarded annually to a student with demonstrated leadership potential, interest in community service, and academic ability. The recipient may demonstrate financial need.

The Dr. Edward M. Ledwich Scholarship was established in 2010 with a gift from the estate of Elisabeth Margarete Ledwich. This scholarship is to be given to a student who demonstrates financial need and who will benefit from the Forest Ridge environment.

The Paula Lillevand ‘58 Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates a love of learning, generosity of spirit, strong work ethic, faithful approach to the world, and a good sense of humor. 

Alice Petty O'Dea, Sacred Heart alumna and mother of Sr. Marcia O'Dea, RSCJ, endowed this scholarship in appreciation of Sacred Heart education and her daughter's educational mission as a Religious of the Sacred Heart. Recipients of this scholarship value the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education, exhibit an appreciation of music, and demonstrate financial need.

The Maxine Elnora Odendahl Scholarship, established in loving memory by her grandson is awarded (each year) to a Middle School student who demonstrates financial need and who exemplifies the fortitude and persistence which were the hallmarks of Ms. Odendahl’s life and work.

The recipient of this scholarship exhibits Sacred Heart Spirit and demonstrates financial need.

The Leona and Phelps Quitsulnd Scholarship was established in 2017 through the generosity of Sonia Quitsulnd, Class of 1983.

The Remala Family Scholarship Fund was established in the spring of 2022 by the Satya and Rao Remala Foundation, the Remala Family Foundation Scholarship Fund is to support need based financial aid for students of color. 

This scholarship is awarded to a student who exemplifies Sacred Heart Spirit and demonstrates financial need.

This scholarship is given in honor of Maureen Romano, class of 1972. It is awarded annually to a high school student who demonstrates interest in global activities such as Sacred Heart exchange opportunities, international language, and current world events. The recipient may demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to new students in honor of Dr. Mary Magnano Smith '61, Head of Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart 2000-2009, recipients of this scholarship exhibit Sacred Heart Spirit and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship was created in 2009 to recognize Dr. Smith for her more than 40 years in education, including her service as Head of School at Forest Ridge. A generous gift from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation helped to establish the Dr. Mary Magnano Smith Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is part of a single parent family and demonstrates financial need.
