|I wish I could share the view from my office window as each day unfolds at Forest Ridge. It is my delight to see our girls and young women leading, learning, playing, collaborating and growing as they crisscross the walkways on this extraordinary ridge of evergreens. As each girl experiences her own journey, she is coming of age in an atmosphere that inspires personal growth and healthy risk-taking. At a school that is grounded in the 200-year-old traditions of the Sacred Heart, each girl is empowered to lead from her strengths and use her strong intellect and well-developed social emotional skills to bring positive change to the world. And she is doing this with other girls who know they, too, will change the world. That view never fails to bring joy to my heart.
For more than 22 years, it has been my privilege — first as a teacher, then as a division administrator and now as Acting Head — to see young girls embrace each new challenge they encounter and graduate from Forest Ridge as bold and confident women who use their creativity, compassion and innovation to affect change in unexpected ways. As the daughter of a Forest Ridge graduate, I know first-hand that the impact of an all-girls, Sacred Heart education lasts a lifetime. To meet our alumnae is to come face-to-face with women who know they have the power to make a difference.
Our website will certainly introduce you to our distinctive ways of thinking about girls, education, leadership, intellectual challenge and personal growth. I would also like to invite you to join us on campus, to feel the air of this ridge, and to experience the joy and excitement of a school community of girls and for girls in which the burning question to be answered is always “what’s next?” Our girls are already thinking about solving the world’s problems. Isn’t that what education is all about?
I look forward to meeting you on campus as you take in the energy, creativity, connection and passion that are hallmarks of a Sacred Heart education at Forest Ridge. This is an experience for girls that cannot be matched anywhere else.
See you soon,
Julie Thenell Grasseschi
Acting Head of School
