IB Theory of Knowledge Program

Theory of Knowledge or TOK is an interdisciplinary course designed to help students question and understand how they know what they know. Students study how individuals from various disciplines view the world in order to develop their own ways of thinking. By stimulating analysis of knowledge across disciplines, TOK seeks to help students make sense of school and the world.

The first year of TOK is taught in specially scheduled class sessions built into the regularly scheduled class time of all first year IB courses.  The TOK teachers visit the students’ first year IB courses and Diploma candidates are required to submit a TOK portfolio in the spring of junior year.  In the senior year, IB Diploma candidates take a one semester TOK course.
