Shin Shin Chez partnered with Seattle chef, James Beard Award winner and friend, Tamara Murphy, to create a personal 264-page hardbound book,TENDER: farmers, cooks, eaters. With over 100 recipes and gorgeous color photography by Angie Norwood Browne and food stylist Patty Wittmann, TENDER is a way of showing gratitude for the tenders, for our communities, and for trusting our intuition.
“TENDER: farmers, cooks, eaters isn’t just about recipes, our wonderful family farms or even food. My hope is that this book will inspire you, as a home cook, to follow and trust your instincts, and to want to know your farmers better.” -Tamara Murphy, author
The ‘FRidge’ Traveling Cookbook Club was created for a fun way for teens and tweens to discover simple ways to enjoy eating, cooking and choosing fresh, whole foods. The intention for this is to be:
A fun hands-on activity with your friends and family.
Participate in any or all of the three activities: cooking, eating and choosing your food. Ideally the food you choose will be local and in-season, however as long as it is something you choose yourselves, it will be a great experience.
Share about your experience, e.g. a short 1-minute video that could be shared with the ‘FRidge’ on the school’s community website, or write a brief comment on the book’s recipe page for future readers to read about one of the 3 activities (cooking, eating, choosing) you enjoyed.
Then pass the Traveling Cookbook along to the next student as soon as possible to continue the chain of fun!
Move quickly, so as many students can participate between now and the end of the school year as possible; and for it to gain positive, almost viral momentum with your friends to grow their interest, excitement and enjoyment of fresh, whole foods.
Thank you for your active participation and sharing your experience. It helps others in their discovery and enjoyment too! We are grateful for the collaboration with ShinShinChez. You can find out more at www.shinshinchez.com or www.farmerscookseaters.com.
