STEAM 2.0 for Girls

This class is for girls in grades: 3,4,5
Session: One
Class Period: Morning
Tuition: $200

Girls, use the Fabrication and Innovation Shop at Forest Ridge to explore the worlds of science and your imagination. New STEAMers and returning campers are welcome at STEAM 2.0 for activities that range from inventing to cooking to digging in the dirt. You will develop leadership skills in a collaborative, all-girls environment and learn new science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics concepts through play-based inquiry. 

Spy Academy

Look out 007 – The Mad Science spy academy is in session! Sharpen your special operative skills as you uncover the secret world of espionage. Learn the art of listening and observation, sending secret messages and decoding clues, and check out security systems and super cool spy equipment. Discover what it takes to keep things safe and how technology works in the spy game. The key to being a great spy is your ability of “sniff” out your suspects and uncover their secrets.

Imagination Station: Arts and Crafts

Grades: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Session: One
Class Period: Morning
Tuition:  $200

Is your favorite part of camp the arts and crafts? If so, then this class is for you! In Camp Crafts students are encouraged to let their creative sides go wild as they explore some of camps most beloved crafting traditions. Tie-dying t-shirts, personalizing bandanas and pillowcases, papier mache, fabric painting, clay mobiles, painting, origami are just a few of the many fun projects that you may take on.

Popsicles, muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, & Friday dinner!

Rainy Day Dinner Club offers a week-long, 3-hour cooking camp with a focus on baking. We will discuss the importance of: local ingredients, scratch cooking, and natural preservatives. As a class, we will learn the science behind baking making and sharing a small batch of baked goods. While our food is cooking, we will step out of the kitchen and play with our food! From vegetable stamps to gardening with food scraps, campers will leave with a new appreciation of food. Like Dinner Club, on the last day of class students will take home a dinner that serves 4-6 with baking instructions, providing their family with dinner!

Volcanos & Earthquakes & Tsunamis—Oh My!

Grades: 2,3,4,5,6
Session: One
Class Period: Afternoon
Tuition:  $200

Would you like to trigger a volcanic eruption?  Have you ever wondered how high and fast a tsunami wave can move?  Can you create a structure that would withstand earthquake tremors?  Come join this hands-on science exploration of earth sciences.  Students will work collaboratively in small groups and practice basic inquiry skills to develop and communicate their discoveries.  Students will also use design-thinking to create models and prototype their ideas and solutions. They will leave this class with more questions than answers, and hopefully a curiosity to continue exploring the world around them!

Keychains and Beadwork

Grades: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Session: One
Class Period: Afternoon
Tuition:  $200

Take your accessory game to the next level with our jewelry design, beadwork and keychain class! Boys and girls will make simple projects, like shrinky-dinks, beading, string art, key chains, and fun fusion beads. Students will create necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, and anything else they can dream up!
