Musical

Grades: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Session: Three
Class Period: Morning

Forest Ridge Summer Drama is a student-centered experience focused on working together to hone basic acting skills, create characters, cultivate creativity, and improve confidence, all while experiencing the vital art of collaboration.  This high-energy class will act as a springboard for students who know they love the theater! Throughout the week r, we will focus on becoming an ensemble through dynamic and challenging games and exercises. Simultaneously we will work with a script, rehearse our skit, and perform it for our friends, family, and community.  Expectations: mandatory memorization, regular attendance, 20 -30 min a night of homework. All levels are welcome!

Crafty Math

This artsy math camp explores math concepts through arts and crafts with string, fabric, paint, glue, glitter, and all things crafty! Each day we will explore new and interesting math concepts and make some awesome crafts to go with the topics. Girls will bead a code, explore fractions through origami, find interesting ways to express pi, and more!

Crazy Chem Works

The wonders of chemistry are revealed as your Junior Chemist creates surprising concoctions, breaks molecules with ease and shakes up a flask full of fun. Kids will use the tools, safety procedures and laboratory techniques of real chemists as they investigate solids, liquids and gases at the atomic level. They’ll craft chemical combinations to create super-sticky-stuff, analyze the properties of light and discover why things glow-in-the-dark. Exploring the elements has never been so much fun!

High Tech Wearables

Grades: 6, 7, 8
Session: Three
Class Period: Morning
Tuition:  $200

From smartwatches to luminescent ball gowns, high-tech wearables are everywhere these days. Learn to make hats, accessories, and clothing that glows, sings, and interacts with your environment using the high- and low-tech tools in The Fabrication and Innovation Shop at Forest Ridge. 

Sports Camp

Grades: 2,3,4,5,6

Calling all athletes and future athletes! This is a class designed to teach teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of exercising regularly. We will be learning about and playing many different sports and activities, such as basketball, tennis, ping-pong and volleyball. Depending on interest, we will use the Forest Ridge fields, courts, and gym. 

Introduction to Scratch

Grades: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Session: Three
Class Period: Afternoon
Tuition:  $200

In Intro to Scratch students will design games, animate stories and develop computational thinking skills with Scratch, a visual drag and drop programming language developed at MIT. Students will learn the fundamentals of programming, including conditional statements, variables, and message handling. From the very first activity, they will be writing their own code and solving challenges collaboratively. Hardware tools like Makey Makey and Vernier probeware help make this a fun, hands-on, student-driven course that is perfect for beginning coders. 

Sports Camp

Class Period: Afternoon

Hand Crafts

Grades: 4,5,6,7
Session: Three
Class Period: Afternoon
Tuition: $200

In Hand Crafts we will be learning how to create pieces you can wear. We will use sewing machines and hand sewing to produce pajama bottoms, tote bag, and other projects based on interest. We will also learn the basics of knitting so you will be prepared to start your own hand-knit creation.

Breads, butter, biscuits, preserves, pretzels, & Friday dinner!

Rainy Day Dinner Club offers week-long, 3-hour cooking camp with a focus on baking. We will discuss the importance of: local ingredients, scratch cooking, and natural preservatives. As a class, we will learn the science behind baking making and sharing a small batch of baked goods. While our food is cooking, we will step out of the kitchen and play with our food! From vegetable stamps to gardening with food scraps, campers will leave with a new appreciation of food. Like Dinner Club, on the last day of class students will take home a dinner that serves 4-6 with baking instructions, providing their family with dinner!

Detective Science

Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigation as we discover clues, analyze evidence, connect the dots and solve the crime. Are detectives really scientists in disguise? Using the power of observation – and their nifty Inspecti-Kit – our young detectives will identify clues and collect evidence from fingerprints to trash. They’ll discover the skills necessary to be a crime scene lab technician and learn that proper analysis and correct conclusions are critical to solving the crime scene puzzle!
