Sacred Heart

Founded by visionary women

Over 200 years ago, foundress St. Madeleine Sophie Barat believed in empowering girls with a solid academic foundation, a strong voice and the nurturing love of God. To that end, she founded the religious order, the Society of the Sacred Heart, to educate young women in France. Over the years, the Society expanded across the globe; and Forest Ridge continues to drive this mission in the Seattle area, changing the world–one girl at a time.

Fostered by a global community

Today, there are 150 Sacred Heart schools in 41 countries worldwide. The Sacred Heart Network of schools share a dedication to our guiding principles and belief in the transformative power inside every girl. We're proud to represent this network in the Seattle area - as a top private all-girls school in Washington State, and in the region.

Enriched by faith diversity

Our Forest Ridge community is enriched with students who represent all major world religions.  As a Sacred Heart school, we are called to educate to a personal and active faith in God and a deep respect for religions of the world, believing that faith diversity enriches our community. For that reason we are proud to welcome students not only from the Seattle area and Western Washington, but from around the country and world.

"Let us respect childhood; let us honor the soul of that small creature of God who can already make choices of the best if we take the time to awaken her reason and make her use her judgment."  St. Madeleine Sophie Barat
