I think the coolest thing about Forest Ridge Athletics is that whether you are an experienced athlete, completely brand new to a sport, or somewhere in between, we have a place for you. Our program is participation-based, and our no-cut policy assures every student the opportunity to be a member of a team. Our junior varsity programs focus on individual and team development, while our varsity programs strive for competitive excellence, yet still uphold principles that are extremely important to us. These include sportsmanship, character and integrity.
Whether a student is reaching outside her comfort zone and trying something new, or working with teammates towards a common goal of a State Championship, our student-athletes learn important life skills related to teamwork, leadership, respect, work ethic and perseverance. They embrace challenges and build values through competitive team experiences that prepare them for life well beyond the classroom and playing field.
My goal is for every student to participate in at least one sport during her high school years at Forest Ridge. Not only will she get to experience a great sense of school spirit and team pride, but the relationships developed, and physical fitness habits learned will carry out through for the rest of her life. When I look back on my high school athletics experience, I smile at the friendships made (still some of my best friends today), the lessons learned (from both winning seasons and losing seasons) and my life-long love of physical fitness.
Forest Ridge is a member of the Emerald City League, which is comprised of nine independent schools in the greater Seattle area.
